New excavations at Mycenae are unearthing an important and exciting part of the life of a Bronze Age palatial center: the ceramics industry. An architectural complex within the settlement, known as Petsas House, is being revealed and with it more than a thousand artifacts related to the production, storage, and exchange of pottery. This lecture will present the latest finds from the site and the insight they give into the lives of the master potters and painters of the 14th century B.C. within the place they called home, work, and market.

About Programs at the Ancient Art Council

Programs are varied and include such activities as lectures by noted archaeologists, museum curators, and ancient art historians; exclusive tours of the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions; fund-raising events; and travel programs to ancient sites and other museums. Members also receive invitations from related organizations to attend lectures ad exhibition openings. Your annual membership dues and contributions will assist in furthering the Ancient Art collection at the Fine Arts Museums.
