Dr. Kunze will speak on Patara, the principal harbor in ancient Lycia on the south coast of Turkey. Famous for its oracle of Apollo and the birthplace of St. Nicholas, Patara stood as a Greek, Roman, and Byzantine city. Ten years of excavations have yielded much information on its public buildings, Greek and Byzantine city walls, Greek and Roman art found in graves, and Christian churches.

Programs are varied and include such activities as lectures by noted archaeologists, museum curators, and ancient art historians; exclusive tours of the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions; fund-raising events; and travel programs to ancient sites and other museums. Members also receive invitations from related organizations to attend lectures ad exhibition openings.
