This lecture will present the most successful and amazing recent archaeological discoveries and achievements in Egypt and also preview major on-site conservation projects, management plans, and reconstruction programs. The Supreme Council of Antiquities is excavating at sites as varied as the tomb―with well preserved colors―of Wah-ti in Saqqara as well as seven Old Kingdom tombs near the Great Pyramid of Giza, including that of Hetepet, priestess of the fertility goddess Hathor and of Bhn-wi-ka (a purification priest among his other titles). These and other discoveries are a feast for the eyes and offer insight into the life and death of ancient Egyptians.
