Few archaeological discoveries in recent years have so radically changed our understanding of a region and a culture as the recently excavated objects on view in the exhibition Roads of Arabia. Over two hundred works, some produced locally and others imported, illustrate the impact of both trade and pilgrimage on the material and economic culture of the Arabian peninsula for millennia. The speaker, also curator of Roads of Arabia, will discuss the ground-breaking exhibition and some of its iconic objects, ranging from mysterious stele, monumental sculpture, to fragile glassware and vibrantly colored wall paintings.

About Programs at the Ancient Art Council

Programs are varied and include such activities as lectures by noted archaeologists, museum curators, and ancient art historians; exclusive tours of the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions; fund-raising events; and travel programs to ancient sites and other museums. Members also receive invitations from related organizations to attend lectures ad exhibition openings. Your annual membership dues and contributions will assist in furthering the Ancient Art collection at the Fine Arts Museums.
