In his lengthy description of the Etruscans, the fourth-century BCE historian Theopompus recalls their "strange" behaviors and practices, especially those concerning Etruscan women. Using Theopompus's excerpt as the focus, this lecture will examine his observations about Etruscan sexuality, nudity, and the body and decipher what is fact and what is fiction.
