The presentation will bring to light the origins of the depiction of the hero Achilles in Greek vase painting. The inspiration comes from the relationship of the image of Achilles in the museum's volute-krater to the Iliad and other sagas of the Trojan War.

This program is made possible by a generous donation from the Elios Society through the Elios Foundation. Achilles and the Vase Painter is Part I of five lectures in The Eye of the Painter: Ancient Greek Pottery series.
