The use of advanced computer imaging offers exciting new opportunities in exploring ancient sites through interactive reconstruction models. Dr. Snyder will lead a virtual tour through the 1st- and the 8th-century AD reconstructions of the Temple Mount site. Based on excavations, the Herodian version of the simulation model shows the Temple Mount prior to its destruction by the Roman troops in AD 70. An expanded version includes a reconstruction of the early Islamic structures on and around the Temple Mount prior to the major earthquake in AD 749.

Dr. Snyder was the primary modeler on the interactive computer reconstructions of the Temple Mount site that were developed jointly by the Urban Simulation Team and the Israel Antiquities Authority for the Davidson Center in the Jerusalem Archaeological Park.

The museum will be closed: Please use the entrance on the Terrace Level on the north side of the building.

Supported by a grant from the Helen Diller Family Foundation, a Supporting Foundation of the Jewish Endowment Fund, and by the Israel Antiquities Authority, and by the Ancient Art Council of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
