The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, possesses the largest and most important collection of ancient Nubian art outside of Khartoum. The works range from delicately carved ivory inlays and exquisite gold jewelry to colossal hard stone statues. Yet for decades, Nubian art and ancient Nubian civilization has taken a back seat to ancient Egypt. A recent exhibition in Boston seeks to redress this situation and appreciate Nubian art for its own accomplishments, every bit equal to its more famous neighbor to the north.

About Programs at the Ancient Art Council

Programs are varied and include such activities as lectures by noted archaeologists, museum curators, and ancient art historians; exclusive tours of the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions; fund-raising events; and travel programs to ancient sites and other museums. Members also receive invitations from related organizations to attend lectures ad exhibition openings. Your annual membership dues and contributions will assist in furthering the Ancient Art collection at the Fine Arts Museums.
